Millyard Museum

The Millyard Museum in New Hampshire , is a located at the Commercial and Pleasant Streets of the Amoskeag Millyard. The museum traces the history of Manchester and its development and the progress of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company. The museum showcases the native people making their livelihood from the Amoskeag Falls, from which came the name of the textile manufacturing company. The early natives were fishermen, farmers and lumberjacks. The textile company, Amoskeag Manufacturing Company developed and became very successful and well known worldwide, which was the beginning of development for the local people. The Amoskeag Manufacturing Company employs a huge number of people, thereby providing employment and means of livelihood.


The Millyard Museum boasts of a collection of over 600,000 objects in the form of memorabilia, recreated places and events, shop signs and other olden inventions. There are stores and galleries for the exhibits. There is a special Discovery Gallery which are used by various groups for activities, demonstrations and lectures. The Millyard Museum in New Hampshire houses a Science Center which educates about the wonders of Science. Special exhibits and school programs are held every month, which are participatory. The current special exhibit is the Cabinet of Curiosities which is the showcase of old artifacts like the utensils, jewelery and equipments used in the olden days.

The New Hampshire Millyard Museum is operational from Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10AM to 4PM. It is closed on the national holidays. The museum charges $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and college students, $2 for children between 6 – 18, as admission fees. Children under 6 are admitted free of charge. Those who are the members of the Manchester Historic Association are admitted free of charge too.





The Millyard Museum New Hampshire has a museum shop which is operational during the museum hours. It sells books and gift items associated with the history of the place. The gift items are for people of all ages and are a specimen of craftsmanship. The stocks are constantly replenished to give it an uniqueness.
